A Horse in Heaven

Sometimes, life gets really hard. Luckily for me, I married into a family with a cabin! Go figure. I have to say, it's pretty incredible how our Heavenly Father knows us better than we know ourselves. Before I met Geoff, I didn't realize how much a part of me that cabin is.

But even more than the cabin - I never would have thought that loving horses was so fundamental to my personality. At least, not until the first time I was up close to one. Geoff and I had just started dating again and were inseparable. I knew without a doubt that things would change that day. I had told my mother multiple times that if I ever saw that boy with his horses, there would be no turning back. What I didn't realize was that I would not only fall even more in love with my husband, but that I would awaken an entirely new aspect to my soul.

He needed to finish shoeing one of Uncle Dave's horses. So I made the trek two hour trek with him. This girl was nervous. Horses are huge for those of you who don't know. But I jumped right in there with that boy and spent the next twenty minutes up close and personal with that horse. I sat by that horse's head, petting his mane, playing with his lips, and starting into those huge eyes. And right then and there I was hooked. But not hooked in an "Oooooo, I love horses because Geoff likes them," or "Wouldn't I look so dang cute as a cowgirl" way. I was hooked in a way that made me realize that this love had always been wired into me, it just never had a chance to manifest itself.

So here I am, expressing my profound gratitude that I married a cowboy. Not only because cowboys are dang sexy (because they are.....no girl can help it), but because Heavenly Father gave me the opportunity to discover an entirely new aspect of my soul. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'll have a horse in heaven.

I know this was supposed to be a post about the cabin... and only about two sentences are about the cabin, but I guess that's how writing works. It unlocks the things that want to be said the most.

P.S. This girl needs some proof that's she's turned into a cowgirl. One of my good friends replied when I told him I rode a horse for the first time with "And you didn't fall off the back?" So Geoffrey, can we please take a picture of me on Sparks??? Pretty please?
